About Dasytes plumbeus (Müller, 1776)

Dasytes plumbeus (originally listed as Dasytes plumbea) is a small dark beetle with a highly polished surface that shows greenish or bluish reflections. Adult individuals are approximately 4 to 5 millimeters long. This species feeds on pollen and nectar, and often carries pollen to other flowers while feeding. It is common across central, northern, and western Europe, and has also been recorded in North America, primarily in the area around Greater Vancouver. It is typically found on flowers and shrubs growing along embankments and at forest edges. Adult beetles are also found on decomposing wood, where the larvae of this species live as predators.
