About Dasysyrphus albostriatus (Fallén, 1817)

This species has the scientific name Dasysyrphus albostriatus (Fallén, 1817). Its wing length ranges from 6.25 to 9.5 mm. The dorsal surface of its thorax has two median stripes of white dust, and the rest of the thorax is shining black. Its tergites bear linear yellow spots, which sometimes connect on the third and fourth tergites. The larva of this species is illustrated in work published by Dusek and Laska in 1962. This species is distributed across the Palaearctic realm. Its range extends from Fennoscandia south to Iberia and North Africa, and from Ireland eastward through Central and Southern Europe (including Italy and Yugoslavia) to Greece, Turkey, and the European parts of Russia (south to Crimea and the Caucasus). Its distribution extends further east into Central Asia and Japan.
