Dasypterus xanthinus, commonly called the western yellow bat, is a small bat species. It is larger than the southern yellow bat, with bright yellow fur. On average, individual western yellow bats weigh around 16 g (0.56 oz), and their forearm length ranges from 42–47 mm (1.7–1.9 in). This species has a dental formula of 1.1.2.3 / 3.1.2.3, giving it a total of 32 teeth. Its range covers the Southwestern United States, including the states of Arizona, California, and New Mexico, plus areas of Mexico: Baja California, West Mexico, and Central Mexico.
