Dascyllus albisella Gill, 1862 can reach a maximum length of 12.5 cm. Its body is dark gray to black overall, while the centers of its body scales are whitish. This species is associated with coral reefs, and occurs most commonly in shallow, protected waters. It swims in small openings ranging from the shallow water surface down to 20 feet below the surface. It is distributed around the Hawaiian Islands and Johnston Island.
