About Daphoenositta chrysoptera (Latham, 1802)
The crown and head of Daphoenositta chrysoptera can be white, grey, or black. Its body is either whitish or grey, often streaked with black and grey. Its wings are black, marked with a broad bar that is either white or cinnamon. The iris is dark orange, while the eye-ring, legs, and feet are orange-yellow. The beak is orange with a black tip that can extend all the way to the base. All of this species' colour variation depends entirely on its subspecies. Certain subspecies of Daphoenositta chrysoptera are known to hybridize, and some of the current subspecies may be recognized as separate full species in the future.
