About Dalcerides ingenita (Edwards, 1882)

Dalcerides ingenita is a moth species belonging to the family Dalceridae. It was first described by Henry Edwards in 1882. In the United States, this moth is found in southeastern Arizona, ranging north through the mountains to Flagstaff. It also occurs in southwestern Texas and Mexico. Adults of Dalcerides ingenita are active on the wing from late April to September in Arizona, and from July to December in Mexico. In Arizona, Dalcerides ingenita, alongside the similar geometrid moth Eubaphe unicolor, forms part of a mimetic complex modeled after Lycus loripes and Lycus simulans. The larvae of this species feed on Arctostaphylos pungens, Quercus emoryi, and Quercus oblongifolia.
