About Dactylorhiza elata (Poir.) Soó
Dactylorhiza elata, commonly known as the robust marsh orchid, is a flowering plant species belonging to the orchid family Orchidaceae. It is native to the western Mediterranean region, which includes France (with Corsica), Sardinia, Spain, Portugal, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. This species is a tuberous herbaceous perennial that grows up to 50 cm (20 in) tall. In spring, it produces dense 20 cm (8 in) spikes of purple flowers. It has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit, a status that was confirmed in 2017.
