About Dactylopus dactylopus (Valenciennes, 1837)
Dactylopus dactylopus, commonly known as the fingered dragonet, is a species of marine fish that belongs to the family Callionymidae. The fingered dragonet is widely distributed across the tropical waters of the central Indo-Pacific region, ranging from Indonesia to the Palau Islands. It occurs at depths between 1 metre (3.3 ft) and 55 metres (180.4 ft), and prefers habitats with sandy or muddy substrates, which often have weed growth. This species can grow to a total length of 30 centimetres (12 inches). It is available in the aquarium trade.
