About Daboia siamensis (Smith, 1917)

Dorsally, the color pattern of Daboia siamensis matches that of D. russelii, though D. siamensis has a more grayish or olive base color, with small spots located between its rows of large spots. The ventral surface of the body is clouded with gray toward the posterior end. Daboia siamensis is known to occur in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, China (Guangxi, Guangdong), parts of India, Taiwan, Nepal, and Indonesia (Ende, Bima-Sumbawa, Flores, east Java, Komodo, and Lomblen Islands). In 1973, Brown noted that this species may also be found in Vietnam, Laos, and the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Ditmars also reported receiving a D. siamensis specimen from Sumatra in 1937. Even so, the full distribution of Daboia siamensis across the Indonesian archipelago remains unresolved and is still being clarified.
