About Cyrtopodion scabrum (Heyden, 1827)

Cyrtopodion scabrum is a species of gecko, a lizard that belongs to the family Gekkonidae. It has multiple common names, including the rough-tailed gecko, rough bent-toed gecko, rough-tailed bowfoot gecko, common tuberculate ground gecko, and keeled gecko. This species is endemic to West Asia, South Asia, and parts of North Africa. In West Asia, C. scabrum can be found in Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. In South Asia, it is found in Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan. In North Africa, it occurs in Egypt and Sudan; the origin of the Sudan population is uncertain. The species is possibly extinct in Eritrea, and the origin of its former population there is also uncertain. Introduced populations of C. scabrum exist in Iran and Texas, United States.
