About Cyrtolobus dixianus Woodruff
Cyrtolobus dixianus Woodruff is one of the largest species in the Cyrtolobus genus. Adult males of this species average approximately 6.5 mm (0.26 in) in length, while adult females average around 7 mm (0.28 in). Male pronota are typically dark brown and covered in yellow spots, while females are green overall. Males have a yellowish-green head, while females have a more pale brown head. This species is distributed across the Midwest to Southeastern region of the United States. Adult individuals are most commonly observed in the months of April and May. It feeds on a wide variety of oak species, including Quercus alba, Quercus falcata, Quercus palustris, and Quercus stellata.
