Cypraecassis testiculus (Linnaeus, 1758) has a maximum recorded shell length of 85 mm. This species can be found on rocky shores in the Atlantic Ocean, ranging from North Carolina to Northeast Brazil and including Angola, as well as in the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea, and the Lesser Antilles. Its minimum recorded depth is 0 m, and its maximum recorded depth is 60 m. Freshly-dead 'crabbed' shells of this species have been trapped at depths between 150 and 180 metres off the west coast of Barbados in the Lesser Antilles.
