About Cyperus tetraphyllus R.Br.

Cyperus tetraphyllus R.Br. is a species of sedge that is endemic to Australia. It is a grass-like plant closely related to papyrus, and grows up to 50 cm tall. Its natural habitat is in high-rainfall areas of eastern Australia, where it occurs in and near rainforest from Kiama northward to Queensland. This species flowers during spring and summer. Its specific epithet tetraphyllus translates directly to "four leaves", but the plant does not have an obvious four-leaved structure, so the meaning of the name remains obscure.
