About Cyperus gracilis R.Br.

Cyperus gracilis R.Br. is commonly called slender flat sedge and slimjim flatsedge. It is a sedge species native to Australia. Its species epithet "gracilis" references the graceful shape of its leaves. This plant grows to a height of 10 to 30 centimetres (3.9 to 11.8 inches), and has a delicate arching growth form. It flowers during spring and summer. In eastern Australia, Cyperus gracilis ranges from the state of Victoria, northward through New South Wales to Queensland. It can grow in a variety of habitats, from high-rainfall coastal areas to drier woodland areas such as Lightning Ridge. It has also become naturalized in Norfolk Island, the Canary Islands, Hawaii, and California.
