About Cyperus filiculmis Vahl

Cyperus filiculmis Vahl is a species of sedge native to the southern regions of North America. It was first formally described by botanist Martin Vahl in 1805. The range of C. filiculmis stretches from Maryland south to peninsular Florida, and extends west to Texas. This sedge grows in a variety of habitats including fields, forests, and sandy or rocky woodlands. It has also been recorded in longleaf pine-wiregrass flatwoods and sand ridges. It occurs primarily in areas with sandy soil and favors sunny locations.
