About Cyperus echinatus (L.) Alph.Wood

Cyperus echinatus (L.) Alph.Wood is a plant species that belongs to the sedge family. This species is native to most of the eastern United States; its primary native range covers the lower Mississippi Valley and the lowland plain located east of the southern Appalachians. Scattered populations of the plant can be found in Florida, and populations extend as far north as Wisconsin and the Adirondacks. There are also additional isolated populations of Cyperus echinatus located in southern Mexico. It grows in a wide range of sunny, often mesic habitats.
