About Cynoglossum germanicum Jacq.
Cynoglossum germanicum Jacq. is a biennial or short-lived perennial herbaceous species that reaches a maximum height of 75 cm. It is closely related to and similar to Cynoglossum officinale, but it can be distinguished by its glabrous, shiny, light-green leaves. Its nutlets are more convex on the outer surface and do not have a thickened border. The typical habitats of these two species also differ strongly. This species grows in woodland glades, among deciduous trees, and sometimes in hedgerows. It needs warm, nitrogen-rich growing conditions. It is native to Europe. It has become extinct in Scotland, and it persists as a rare plant in England.
