About Cymothoe egesta Cramer, 1779

Cymothoe egesta, commonly known as the common yellow glider, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. It can be found in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and Tanzania. Its habitat ranges from lowland to sub-montane forests, and includes secondary growth forest. Males of this species engage in mud-puddling, and both males and females are attracted to fermenting fruit. They have also been recorded feeding on the flowers of Cleistopholis patens. The larvae of Cymothoe egesta feed on plant species from the genus Rinorea.
