About Cymbula oculus (Born, 1778)

This species has the scientific name Cymbula oculus (Born, 1778). The shell of this species is low-profile and dull brown on the outer surface, marked by approximately 10 major ribs. The interior of the shell has a broad black margin, and its central area is light pinkish brown. Juvenile individuals are yellow with iridescent green flecks. This species can grow up to 100 millimeters in length. It is distributed along the south coast of South Africa, where it inhabits the rocky mid-shore zone.
