About Cyclosa diversa (O.Pickard-Cambridge, 1894)

Cyclosa diversa is an orb weaver spider species that belongs to the family Araneidae. This species has a widespread distribution ranging from Mexico to Argentina, including the Greater Antilles. It is widely distributed across the Neotropics, spanning from Mexico through Central America and the Caribbean to Argentina. Documented specific locations for the species include San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Chiapas in Mexico, as well as Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Cuba, and Argentina. C. diversa has been collected from a range of different habitats. These include cloud forests in Colombia, and the species was also obtained through forest canopy fogging in Peru's Tambopata National Reserve. Unlike many other orb weaver species that produce white silk for their webs, C. diversa builds its webs with golden silk.
