About Cyclophora albiocellaria (Hübner, 1789)

Cyclophora albiocellaria, first described by Hübner in 1789, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. This species occurs in southeastern Europe and parts of Central Asia. Individuals from the species’ first generation have a wingspan of 20 to 25 mm, while those from the second generation have a wingspan of only around 18 mm. The apex of the forewing is slightly pointed. The overall ground colour of the wings is pale yellow with an orange tint. The postmedial line is broken up into distinct brown dots. All wings show strong dark black-brown colouration in the medial area, both near the postmedial line and the inner wing area. Large, round cell rings with a white centre are present on all wings. The larvae of Cyclophora albiocellaria feed on Acer campestre.
