About Cyclocosmia truncata (Hentz, 1841)
Cyclocosmia truncata is a species of cork-lid trapdoor spider, classified within the family Halonoproctidae. This species is found in the United States. When it is threatened, Cyclocosmia truncata retreats into its burrow, and uses its rigid, disc-shaped abdomen to plug the burrow entrance. This defensive behavior is called phragmosis.
