Cyanea ferruginea, whose full scientific name is Cyanea ferruginea Eschscholtz, 1829, is also commonly called the Pacific lion mane jellyfish. It is a species of jellyfish that is most often found in waters south of the polar region and the Bering Sea. This species is smaller than the closely similar Cyanea capillata, the lion's mane jellyfish, which is one of the largest animals living in the ocean. Cyanea ferruginea has a red bell that reaches approximately 1 meter in diameter, and its tentacles can grow up to 8 meters long.
