About Curcuma alismatifolia Gagnep.

Curcuma alismatifolia Gagnep. is commonly known as Siam tulip or summer tulip. In Thai, it has three local names: ปทุมมา (RTGS: pathumma), กระเจียวบัว (RTGS: krachiao bua), and ขมิ้นโคก (RTGS: khamin khok). This is a tropical plant native to Laos, northern Thailand, and Cambodia. Despite its common common names including the word "tulip", it is not related to true tulips. Instead, it is a close relative of turmeric. It can be grown as an indoor plant. It is a perennial herb that reaches a maximum height of 2 feet, or 0.61 meters. The pigment malvidin 3-rutinoside is responsible for the color of the bracts of this species.
