About Cunizza hirlanda (Stoll, 1790)

Hesperocharis hirlanda, commonly known as the Hirlanda white, is a species of butterfly belonging to the Pieridae family. This species is found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, and Bolivia. Its natural habitat consists of forested foothills in the eastern Andes, and lowlands in the upper Amazon basin. It occurs at altitudes ranging from approximately 400 to 1,000 meters. Adult Hirlanda white butterflies feed on mineralised moisture. Note: The scientific name Cunizza hirlanda (Stoll, 1790) provided is a synonym for this species.
