Wijnands argued to reject Roessler's typification as the Linnaean - name thesis used Burman - lent specimens, but 1027.4 (LINN) annotated by Linnaeus seems original, so Roessler's typification is accepted.

About Cullumia squarrosa (L.) R.Br.

Wijnands (Bot. Commelins: 81. 1981) contended that Roessler's typification should be rejected. The reason is that the thesis where the Linnaean name was published mainly relied on specimens lent to Linnaeus by Burman. Although this is generally the case, specimen 1027.4 (LINN) is annotated as Gorteria squarrosa by Linnaeus and seems to be the original material for the name. Therefore, Roessler's typification is accepted here.
