Ctenotus essingtonii, scientifically described by Gray in 1842, can reach a snout-to-vent length of 6.5 cm (2.6 in). This slender species has five toes on each of its four feet, with 26 scale rows at midbody. It is located in the northern part of the Northern Territory in Australia, including the Tiwi Islands. Its preferred natural habitat is forest. Sexually mature Ctenotus essingtonii individuals breed in the dry season, and the species is oviparous.
