About Ctenolepisma ciliata (Dufour, 1831)

Ctenolepisma ciliata (originally referred to as Ctenolepisma ciliatum in the source text) is a species of silverfish belonging to the order Zygentoma. This species was first described based on specimens from Spain. It is a common species found in subarid habitats across the Mediterranean basin, ranging from Portugal to Western Asia. It is very closely related to C. longicaudatum. The dorsal pattern of Ctenolepisma ciliata is usually uniformly brownish or greyish with iridescence, or it may have two or four longitudinal fringes running along the abdomen. Anatomical and morphological differences between this species and related species rely on microscopic characteristics, such as the setation, or the shape and distribution of scales.
