About Cteniopus sulphureus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Cteniopus sulphureus, commonly known as the sulphur beetle, is a species of comb-clawed beetle. It is classified in the subfamily Alleculinae of the family Tenebrionidae. This species occurs primarily in Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Italy, and Sweden. Adult sulphur beetles reach a length of 7 to 8 millimetres (0.28โ0.31 inches). Their elytra are pale yellow, while their head and pronotum are orange-yellow, and the head is shaped to extend forward. These are thermophilic beetles, most often found in sunny locations on the inflorescences of plants in the Apiaceae and Asteraceae families, particularly species in the genus Achillea.
