This species is primarily documented from lowland regions of Guatemala, Belize, and Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Within this range, it has been recorded in dry scrubland and tropical dry forest habitats, all occurring at elevations below 100 meters. Currently, the Yucatan small-eared shrew faces threats from deforestation.
