Cryptops anomalans Newport, 1844 is a species of centipede belonging to the genus Cryptops. It is primarily distributed across Europe, and is one of the largest species in its genus, able to reach a body length of 50 millimeters. This species is easily confused with two of its Central European relatives, C. hortensis and C. parisi, but can be distinguished by a characteristic X-shaped suture on its first tergite. Its confirmed distribution includes Central Europe excluding Poland, plus Albania, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Turkey, and Ukraine. It has also been recorded in Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and parts of Canada.
