About Cryptocentrus cinctus (Herre, 1936)
The yellow prawn-goby, with the scientific name Cryptocentrus cinctus, is a goby species native to the Western Pacific. It lives in coastal bays and lagoons at depths ranging from 1 to 25 metres (3.3 to 82.0 ft). This species forms a symbiotic relationship with alpheid shrimps, and the two share burrows. Yellow prawn-gobies can reach a total length of 10 centimetres (3.9 in) measured along the standard length SL. Their appearance varies greatly, with individuals ranging in color from bright yellow to gray or brown, and many have combinations of these colors. The yellow prawn-goby is commonly kept in saltwater aquariums. It can be housed in aquariums as small as 20 gallons, which is 75 L. In the saltwater aquarium hobby, this species is often kept paired with tiger pistol shrimp.
