Cryptantha microstachys is a species of flowering plant in the borage family, commonly known as Tejon cryptantha. It is native to California and Baja California, growing in several habitat types including chaparral in coastal and inland hills and mountains. This species is an annual herb that produces a branching or unbranched stem 10 to 50 centimeters tall, which is covered in a coating of hairs and bristles. Its leaves are hairy, linear to oblong in shape, and grow up to 4 centimeters long. The inflorescence is formed of a stretch of bristly developing fruits, tipped with open flowers that have five-lobed white corollas just a few millimeters wide.
