About Crypsitricha mesotypa (Meyrick, 1888)
Crypsitricha mesotypa is a moth species that belongs to the family Tineidae. It was first described by Edward Meyrick in 1888, and this species is endemic to New Zealand. This moth has a wingspan of 10–14 mm. Its forewings are light brownish-ochreous, and are irregularly suffused with an ochreous-whitish color. There are two small black spots on the costa towards the base of the forewings, plus a blackish longitudinal mark in the disc near the base. A straight, moderately oblique thick blackish bar extends from the costa at the two-fifths position, reaching more than halfway across the wing; this bar is followed by an ochreous-whitish bar. The area between these blackish markings is suffused with fuscous. The posterior half of the costa is marked with blackish-fuscous spots outlined in ochreous-whitish. There is also a small black spot in the disc at the two-thirds position, which is more or less distinctly bisected by a projection coming from an ochreous-whitish spot beneath the spot. Its hindwings are whitish-grey.
