About Crowea angustifolia Sm.
Crowea angustifolia Sm. is a variable shrub that ranges in height from 0.3 to 3.5 m (1 to 10 ft). It can grow as an erect shrub, or as a spreading, diffuse form. Its leaves are thin and glabrous, with shapes ranging from linear to broad elliptic, or obovate (egg-shaped with the narrower end at the base). The leaves measure 50โ80 mm (2โ3 in) in length, and are less than 15 mm (0.6 in) wide. Flowers usually appear singly in leaf axils, borne on a pedicel 2โ5 mm (0.08โ0.2 in) long. There are 2 to 4 bracteoles at the base of the flower. It has five separate, papery, more or less round sepals that are about 2 mm (0.08 in) long. There are five thin, egg-shaped white or pink petals that are about 12 mm (0.5 in) long. Both the ten stamens and the style are about 7 mm (0.3 in) long. Flowering occurs from September to December. This species is endemic to the extreme south-western corner of Western Australia, found in the Jarrah Forest, Swan Coastal Plain and Warren biogeographic regions. It grows on sandy soils, gravel, granite, ridge tops, slopes and outcrops.
