About Crotalus transversus Taylor, 1944

This species is Crotalus transversus Taylor, 1944. For adult females of this species, the maximum recorded total length is 46.5 cm (18.3 in). Tail length makes up 10.5% of total body length in males, and between 7.1% and 7.9% of total body length in females. This species is geographically found in central Mexico. It occurs in the Sierra Ajusco and the Sierra de Monte Alto of the Transverse Volcanic Cordillera, located in the Mexican states of México and Morelos. It inhabits temperate boreal forests at elevations above 2,900 m (9,500 ft). Its designated type locality is "about 55 km. SW México (city), near Tres Marías (Tres Cumbres), Morelos [Mexico], elevation about 10,000 ft." (3,000 m).
