About Crotalaria spectabilis Roth
Crotalaria spectabilis, commonly known as showy rattlebox or showy rattlepod, is a flowering plant species belonging to the pea family, Fabaceae. This species is native to the Indian Subcontinent, southern China, and Southeast Asia. It is a perennial herb that reaches a height between 0.6 and 1.5 meters (24 to 59 inches). It typically grows in montane grasslands, along forest edges, and in meadows. It was originally introduced as a green manure to most tropical and subtropical regions of the world, and is now classified as a serious agricultural pest species. It is toxic to livestock, and causes liver damage when consumed.
