About Crambus leachellus Zincken, 1818

Crambus leachellus, commonly called Leach's grass-veneer, is a species of moth belonging to the family Crambidae. It was first described by Johann Leopold Theodor Friedrich Zincken in 1818. This moth is found in North America, with recorded ranges extending from Ontario and Maryland south to Florida, and west to California and Oregon. It inhabits grasslands and meadows. Adults of this species have a wingspan of 25 to 27 mm. They are active from May through September, producing two to four generations each year. The larvae of Crambus leachellus feed on grasses.
