About Costus montanus Maas

Costus montanus Maas is a near-threatened plant species that is endemic to Costa Rica. It grows in moist middle-altitude cloud forests, where it occurs in shaded areas and alongside streams. This species was first formally described by Paul Maas in 1972. It is sometimes confused with other species in the genus Costus, specifically Costus barbatus and Costus ricus.
