Cossula magnifica, commonly known as the pecan carpenterworm moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Cossidae. This species is found in the southeastern United States, ranging from North Carolina south to Florida, and extending west to Mississippi and Texas. The wingspan of adult Cossula magnifica measures 32 to 45 millimeters. Adult moths are active on the wing from March to June, with activity timing varying based on location. The larvae of Cossula magnifica feed on plants in the Carya genus, including Carya illinoinensis, and also feed on plant species in the Diospyros and Quercus genera.
