About Coryphellina poenicia (Burn, 1957)

Coryphellina poenicia has a translucent body that sometimes shows a purplish tinge. Within its head, the jaw plates can be seen as two distinct purple crescents. Its cerata each have a deep orange-red band just below the tip, and the digestive gland inside the cerata is usually orange or yellow. The cnidosac is an opaque white structure. The upper half of each rhinophore has papillae on its posterior side, though these papillae may be absent in juvenile individuals. This species reaches a maximum total length of 25 millimeters. Coryphellina poenicia is widely distributed across Southeastern Australia, ranging from New South Wales to South Australia.
