Coryphellina exoptata, formally described by Gosliner & Willan in 1991, typically reaches around 30 millimetres (1.2 inches) in length when fully mature, though individuals can grow as large as 48 millimetres (1.9 inches). This species was first described from specimens collected in Madang, Papua New Guinea. It is widely distributed across the tropical waters of the Indo-West Pacific region.
