Corynactis annulata, the strawberry anemone, is a small southern Atlantic anemone that feeds on small plankton.

About Corynactis annulata (Verrill, 1867)

Commonly called the strawberry anemone, Corynactis annulata (Verrill, 1867) is a distinctive small anemone that typically appears bright pink, with white knobs at the tips of its tentacles. This species grows to a maximum diameter of 1 centimetre, or 0.39 inches. Green and reddish colour morphs of this anemone have also been recorded. This species is distributed along the southern African coast, ranging from Port Nolloth to Mossel Bay. It lives from intertidal zones down to depths of 35 metres, or 115 feet. It has also been found in the Inaccessible Archipelago in the southern Atlantic Ocean. In its ecosystem, Corynactis annulata grows in clusters and sheets on rocky reefs and wrecks. It feeds on small planktonic organisms.
