About Cortinarius flexipes (Pers.) Fr.

The cap of Cortinarius flexipes reaches a maximum width of 3 centimetres (1.2 in). It is dark brown, and fades to a pale fawn color when it dries out. Fine white hair-like scales cover the cap, and these scales are especially concentrated near the cap edge. The center of the cap is more or less pointed. The stipe (stem) grows up to approximately 7 centimetres (2.8 in) long, has a fibrous texture, and bears white bands of leftover veil tissue. The fruitbodies of this species have a scent characteristic of Pelargonium, commonly known as household geraniums. Cortinarius flexipes is classified as inedible.
