Cornus glabrata Benth. is a dogwood species native to the U.S. states of California and Oregon. It goes by the common names brown dogwood, smooth dogwood, and western cornel. This plant grows as a large shrub or thicket-forming bush. Its leaves are bright green, and turn red during the autumn season. It produces abundant clusters of fuzzy white flowers, and bears bluish-white berries. This shrub most commonly grows near water, typically located directly on the bank of a water source.
