About Cordia trichotoma (Vell.) Arráb. ex Steud.
Cordia trichotoma is a deciduous tree that reaches approximately 20–30 m in height, with trunk diameters measuring 70–90 cm. It produces white flowers, each with five oval-shaped petals. Its leaves are broad and simple, and it bears fruit that is a drupe. In Brazil, this tree is primarily found in the wild regions of Amazonas. It is a pioneer species. Due to its excellent wood quality and straight trunk form, its wood is used and sold globally to make high-quality furniture. The logging industry, which is mostly led by Brazilian operators, has made this tree rare in the wild, compounded by the difficulty of propagating it from seed. Much of its native populations are currently threatened by a combination of environmental changes and human activity.
