About Coptocephala unifasciata (Scopoli, 1763)
Coptocephala unifasciata can grow to 4–7 mm (0.16–0.28 in) in length, with distinct sexual dimorphism in coloration. In males, the pronotum is red, and the head is black with a red upper lip. In females, the pronotum and entire head are yellow-orange. The elytra are yellow-orange and marked with two black cross bars; these bars are usually interrupted at the suture and do not reach the side edges of the elytra. The basal portion of the antennae is yellow-orange, while the remaining segments are black. The base of the femora is black, and the rest of the legs are yellow-orange. This species is found in the Palearctic Realm. It occurs across much of Europe, but is not present in the Netherlands, the British Isles, or Fennoscandinavia. To the east, its range extends through Asia Minor, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Western Siberia to Mongolia.
