Conus planorbis Born, 1778 has a shell size that ranges between 26.1 mm and 82 mm. The whorls of its spire are striate, marked with irregular chestnut-colored spots. The body whorl has beaded striae on its lower portion, and sometimes granular striae cover the entire surface of the shell. The shell is colored orange-brown or chestnut, and often has a light band across its middle; it may also have an additional light band at the shoulder. The base of the shell is darker than the rest of the shell. This is a marine species. It occurs in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean off the coast of Madagascar, the Seychelles, and the Mascarene Islands, as well as throughout the Indo-West Pacific and Oceania. It is also found off the coast of Australia, in the Northern Territory, Queensland, and Western Australia.
