About Conus musicus Hwass, 1792

Conus musicus Hwass, 1792 is a species of cone snail. Adult shells of this species reach between 14 mm and 30 mm in size. The base color of the shell is whitish, marked with broad light ash-violet bands and narrow chocolate-colored revolving lines, which are broken into short lines and spots. The spire is often slightly coronate, and marked with chocolate-colored radial patterns. This species is distributed in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. Its range in the Indian Ocean extends from Aldabra, Chagos, Madagascar, Mozambique and Tanzania, through the Central Indian Ocean off Sri Lanka and the Maldives, east to the Marshall Islands, the Solomon Islands, Fiji, and the Ryukyu Islands. It is also found off the coast of Australia, in the regions of New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, and Western Australia.
