Contarinia negundinis, which is commonly called the boxelder gall midge, is a species of gall midge that belongs to the family Cecidomyiidae. Its other recognized common names are boxelder bud gall midge and boxelder leaf gall midge. It is the only North American species of this group that enters diapause during its pupal developmental stage.
